We have received many questions about changes to our program since Covid-19 started. Thankfully, we are still able to hold in-person classes and have been teaching as scheduled. With our smaller class sizes, and extra safety measures, we can help ensure that everyone stays in good health.
Temperature Checks and Questionnaires
Each week, when our students arrive to class, we do temperature checks and a Covid screening. If anyone has a temperature above 99.9, we will ask them to leave and consult with their physician about testing and monitor for symptoms. We also do a questionnaire to see if anyone has been experiencing any symptoms, been tested recently, or been exposed to someone with Covid who later tested positive. We keep records of each of these protocols.
Mask Wearing
When students and instructors enter the building, they are required to wear a mask. We can give the students a mask if they do not have one. When working on each other, they are required to wear 2 medical masks or a single medical mask and a face shield. During lunch, students and instructors must be socially distant from each other for maximum protection against the virus.
Additional Measures
Frequent hand sanitizing is also something we are enforcing during our classes. We are also wiping down common surfaces used like countertops, door handles and operatories after each use. If for any reason another shutdown were to occur, we would meet via Zoom for the lectures and resume in person clinicals when able to. Students would not lose any hands-on hours and we would resume classes until all hours were met.
